End of week 1 -- So far so good
OK, so the end of the week inventory:
- Drums - done (Dan is laying percussion parts tomorrow)
- Bass - mostly done, need to redo some parts
- Acoustic guitar - done
- Scott's vocals - 6 songs fully done, 3 others partially done
- Jim's vocals - 6 songs done
- Dan's vocals - done
Next week we will need to finish all vocals, lay main electric guitar, redo some bass parts, add in any extra instruments (piano, lead guitar). And we're done!
This week has been a bit grueling for me. But completely satisfying. Jason (our producer) and I have spent looooooong hours on my vocals, getting them refined (trying to take out any nasality, workingn on softer pronunciations) so they sound good for the caliber of recording we wanted to do. I feel like my vocal style has drastically improved from working on it so much in these last days. I'm looking forward to that translating to our live shows as well.
All in all, we are doing pretty well. We are definitely over our recording budget. Go figure. Dan said that it would cost more than we thought. Dan was right. But we do want a record we are proud of.
Shad has started researching venues for the CD release party. Keep your pants on boys and girls. This is going to be a live one!
Week 2 - here we come.
