Holy s*@t!!
... has this been a long 2 weeks! But finally... all the tracks have been laid, the recording sessions are finished!!! ... for the most part.
We had our last day in the studio yesterday. Of course it went longer than expected. We had to do all of the vocals for "Broken" and "Come On Home" and I had to finish 2 other songs: "Blown Away" and a new song, "Something."
It felt so good to walk out of that studio after the work we put in. Honestly, I didn't know it would be such hard work. But, I loved it. I haven't even heard rough mixes of the songs yet and I'm ready to starting recording another album.
So... I say we are done recording "for the most part" because it is still possible that we can record some extra guitar or piano parts. We can do this pretty easily and send them to Jason. However, I won't be able to do any of that until I get back from Brazil!! Speaking of which, I am leaving in a few hours and haven't packed yet.
So, next steps for the album:
- Go to Brazil and relax
- Get into the studio when I get back to play music with Dan and Jim cause I'll be going through withdrawal
- Listen to the rough mixes of the songs we recorded
- Record any extra parts and send them to Jason
- Work with Shad to set up the infrastructure for the business of the band
- Work with our graphic designer, Helena, on the artwork for the album
- Figure out which songs to put on the album
- Hold a meeting to start planning the CD release party
The list goes on... but you get the idea.
I think I can speak for Dan and Jim when I say that we are psyched about this album. We are looking forward to all of you getting to hear it.
OK.. I need to pack! I'm exhausted but I can sleep when I'm dead.
Talk to you soon!
